Friends of Cheneys at a summer fete

Sussex Housing & Care is fortunate enough to have a group of loyal volunteers supporting our work. They are local people who enjoy supporting their local home or scheme in a range of ways, often enjoying shared interests and hobbies with residents. Volunteers include pupils from local schools and colleges, as well as members of the wider community.

Another key part of our volunteer support comes from our three Friends Groups, who also make a significant contribution to the organisation.

They provide invaluable support to those residents who have few family and friends nearby. This means that strong friendships are often developed between the visiting Friends and our residents.

Our Friends Groups:-

  • Are local volunteers wishing to enhance the lives of older people in their community, particularly within Sussex Housing & Care's Residential Care Homes or Sheltered Housing schemes
  • Represent and promote the interests of Sussex Housing & Care in our area and uphold our good name
  • Provide support to residents and staff
  • Help to organise activities, outings and fundraising events
  • Are also available to visit and help residents where needed
  • Are willing to introduce relevant community connections to the marketing and fundraising team – where appropriate.

If you would like to find out more about our volunteering opportunties, please contact our Communications team on 01323 875240 or email communications@sussexhousing.org.uk, who will put you in touch with either your local care home or scheme, or the Friends Group in your area.
