Am I eligible?

Sheltered housing for rent

  • You need to be 60 years old and over.
  • You need to have equity and savings below a certain level.
  • You do not own property that is suitable for your housing needs.
  • You must have a local connection to the Local Authority area. You need to have lived in the area for three out of the past five years or have a family member (parent; adult children or brothers or sisters including corresponding step relationships) who has resided in the area for the past two continuous years. 

Independent living - rented housing

  • You need to be 55 years old or over.
  • You need to have equity and savings below a certain level.
  • You do not own property that is suitable for your housing needs.
  • You must have a local connection to the Local Authority area. You need to have lived in the area for three out of the past five years or have a family member (parent; adult children or brothers or sisters including corresponding step relationships) who has resided in the area for the past two continuous years.

Leasehold - homes to buy

  • You need to be 55 years old or over.
  • You will need to have an assessment to identify whether you’re able to live independently and afford the annual service charge and any additional maintenance charges.
