Bindu Joseph, Care Home Manager
"I have worked at Oakwood Court for nearly 13 years. I get satisfaction from helping residents and seeing them happy in our home.
I have a Diploma in General Nursing, Level 3 in Health and Social Care and I am currently working towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management of Care Services.
I love my job because it's so rewarding leading a team and supporting our residents to live a bright life. We do everything we can for them and it's brilliant to see the smiles on their faces.

"I enjoy my role as Deputy Manager, helping Bindu with the running of the home. I've been supported by Sussex Housing & Care to develop my career in care, and since joining as a care assistant in 2017, I've progressed to become a senior carer and since April 2021 I've fulfilled my current role, which I love.
It's a lovely team here at Oakwood Court and we all work well together."
Madeleine Beech, Care Home Administrator
I have been in this role for seven and a half years, and I support the Care Home Manager with all the administration at the home. This includes for example completing forms for new residents and staff, paying invoices, helping to manage
the budget, completing and submitting payroll and liaising with our Support Services team.
I’m the first point of contact for everyone who walks through the door so I welcome friends and families of residents, doctors, nurses, tradesmen and I take care of all the telephone calls. Some of my colleagues say “I’m the glue that holds the home together!”
This is a very busy role and I have the freedom to complete my work, be with the residents and interact with staff. We’re a good team here!
Maria Figueira, Chef Manager
I have over 25 years experience in catering and have been a Chef Manager here since 2013. I love food and cooking and I understand the importance of food. My father was Spanish and my upbringing has revolved around family and food.
Mealtimes are one of the most important parts of the day, especially for socialising and residents' wellbeing. There's nothing better than seeing residents tucking into a home cooked, hearty meal and getting good feedback from them, it brings joy to me and makes my job rewarding. I am supported in the kitchen by a Chef and two Kitchen Assistants and spend time with residents listening to their feedback and menu ideas.
Allan Manalo, Maintenance
I take care of the day to day maintenance of the building making sure all the checks have been done, including fire and gas safety and electrical testing. My role also includes tasks such as unblocking shower wells, checking light bulbs and cleaning the bins. There is generally a lot of cleaning involved and ensuring everything is in working order. I also decorate rooms when they become vacant.
I enjoy spending time talking to residents when I’m working in their rooms and supporting the care team. I may have my week planned out but sometimes my work can be very reactive, you never really know what you’re going to walk into in the morning, this is why I love working here.
I have enjoy the opportunity to do activities with residents such as gardening, indoor play and dancing. Outside of work, DIY is my main hobby.
