Local community joins us to celebrate arts in care homes

We had a fantastic time last week celebrating National Arts in Care Homes week at Woodlands, Saxonwood and Oakwood Court care homes

The ‘go green’ theme supports our sustainability strategy and the focus was recyclable materials. We made some personalised African inspired friendship bangles at workshops led by the Painted Ladies and sunflowers, woollen owls and autumn wreaths - a real autumn vibe shining through!

We welcomed students from Battle and Langton Primary School and Claverham Community College to Saxonwood care home in Battle, and students from Holy Trinity Primary School to Oakwood Court care home in Haywards Heath, as well as relatives and visitors to Woodlands care home in Crowborough.

Residents all felt proud of what they created and the smiles, chatter and laughter in the room raised  everyone's  spirits.

Arts in care homes is a national campaign led by the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which aims to highlight the wellbeing benefits of arts, creativity and cultural engagement in care settings. They aim to promote the beneficial outcomes for care recipients, staff teams and relatives, champion good practice and encourage care settings to develop more creative activities and opportunities. Arts in Care Homes is a programme, managed by NAPA and funded by The Baring Foundation and The Rayne Foundation.

Take a peek in these videos at the beautiful creations, and the impact these intergenerational and community workshops have on all generations…
