Award-winning care - staff recognised at the East Sussex Partners in Care Awards!

Huge congratulations to Tracie, Victoria, Caroline, Ruby and Megan who all scooped awards last night at the East Sussex Partners in Care Awards for their incredible achievements!

The red carpet was laid out at the East Sussex National Hotel near Uckfield, as carers from across the county met to celebrate all the finalists.

Tracie Wilson, Chef Manager at Saxonwood Care Home in Battle won the ‘Ancillary Award’ category. The panel recognised her efforts to proactively engage with residents and produce themed menus and dishes to delight everyone.

Tracie said: “I’m excited to have won! I think it’s great that they chose me as a Chef, out of all the ancillary roles and other worthy nominations. Catering is the heart of the home and it’s lovely to produce food and give a smile to residents. Having the team here to celebrate together has been wonderful.”

Victoria Gallagher, Care Assistant at Saxonwood won the highly contested Care Worker of the Year Award. The judges commented that Victoria shows people that they really truly matter, especially impressive at her young age.

Collecting her award, Victoria said: “I honestly feel speechless to have won the Care Worker of the Year Award. Being able to spend the evening with so many like-minded individuals was a privilege. 18 year old me, who was clueless when starting the job, would be gob smacked! Thank you to my colleagues, wonderful residents and everyone I have met along the way who have helped make me who I am today.”

Caroline Foord, also from Saxonwood, was awarded highly commended in the ‘Hidden Gem’ category, in addition to Megan Jackson and Ruby Antony from Woodlands care home in Crowborough who were highly commended for ‘Care Worker of the Year’ and ‘Ancillary Award’ respectively.

Ruby was delighted: “I’m so happy right now, I was so excited and nervous, it’s been a brilliant celebration.”

Tracy Evans, Chief Executive at Sussex Housing & Care said: “We are very proud of Tracie, Victoria, Caroline, Ruby and Megan for being winners and finalists and being recognised for their work. They are a credit to Sussex Housing & Care and to the care sector.”
