Celebrating our carers
It's Carer's Week from 10 to 16 June and we're celebrating the fantastic contributions our carers make and the kindness and compassion they have for our residents and team.
We're celebrating everyone and here is Laura who has only been working for us for six weeks;
"I work as a Care Assistant at Oakwood Court care home in Haywards Heath. My first impressions were how homely it feels here, the management feel part of the team and the staff are friendly, they've supported me to settle in.
Having time to spend with our residents, talking about their lives and experiences is what I love best about my role. I've worked in care for two years and Oakwood Court is like a hotel, the residents have their choice and their voice heard.
I've already done 13 online training courses since I've been here, with more to come, so I have a good understanding of what's expected of me, and I've found colleagues to be supportive and helpful.
I already feel part of the home and the residents lives, and I'm looking forward to the months and years to come."
