Nevill Court welcomes Dr Emma Worrell

Dr Worrell was invited to a coffee morning at Nevill Court to talk about her work at Guys, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Queen Victoria Hospital.

The Scheme Manager met her when she helped her friend move into Nevill Court, and fascinated by her work, asked her to speak.

Dr Worrell is currently a Principal Maxillofacial Prosthetist. Her work history started at Guys and then she spent 18 years at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She currently works at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.

She has been named South East clinical support worker of the year at the national Our Health Heroes awards. The awards, run by Skills for Health, celebrate the significant contribution clinical support workers make in the delivery of high-quality healthcare across the UK.

Up against strong competition from clinical staff at other hospitals in the South East, the judges were very interested in the national research study which Emma is leading for Queen Victoria Hospital, looking into comfort and outcomes for people using an artificial eye.

Emma makes artificial eyes, noses and ears for patients affected by cancer and trauma incidents. This also extends to jaws, dentures and other facial issues.
