Residents from across Sussex Housing and Care came together on 30 June 2026 in Seaford for the latest Resident Sounding Board meeting, providing valuable feedback and helping to shape services and initiatives across the organisation.
The meeting was chaired by Carl Lewis, Head of Housing, and brought together 11 residents from across our tenant, independent and leasehold housing, to discuss a range of topics affecting customers and communities. Discussions included resident engagement activities, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, plans for Sussex Housing & Care's upcoming 80th anniversary celebrations, performance updates, and ways residents can become more involved in monitoring service contracts such as cleaning and gardening.
Sue Mines, a tenant at Clevedown in Lewes, enjoyed the meeting: “I found this morning’s meeting very informative and all-inclusive. I get the feeling that the items brought up will be addressed and I look forward to attending the next meeting.”
Carl Lewis said: “It’s been brilliant to bring everyone together today at the Sounding Board. A key theme throughout the meeting was resident involvement and ensuring that residents continue to influence decision-making.”
Residents also shared a number of ideas and suggestions for future communications and engagement opportunities. Feedback included:
· requests for more information about artificial intelligence and how it is being used,
· clearer fire safety information on noticeboards
· development of a community welcome briefing for new residents to help them understand local activities and support available in their schemes.
· promoting resident board member opportunities
· providing reminders about key policies
· celebrating resident stories and achievements.
Tracy Evans, Chief Executive, commented: “Sussex Housing and Care is committed to ensuring residents have a variety of ways to share their views. In addition to the Sounding Board, residents can give us feedback through surveys, annual tenancy reviews, scheme meetings, coffee mornings, newsletters and direct conversations with staff. This helps us with identifying service improvements and I’d like to thank everyone involved today.”
