Congratulations to Roxi who has officially become Saxonwood's new Registered Manager, following a rigorous assessment process with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Roxi, previously the Deputy Care Home Manager at Saxonwood Care Home in Battle, was interviewed by the CQC on 21 January. The comprehensive two‑hour interview covered all 34 quality statements within the new CQC framework. Roxi was asked to demonstrate her knowledge, share examples of best practice, and discuss her continuous improvement plans for the service.
She spoke confidently about safeguarding, legislation, recruitment, employment procedures, and reflected on recent learning.
The interviewer was “really pleased” with Roxi’s answers, praising the depth and detail she provided across every part of the framework. Roxi described the interview as feeling natural, reflecting how embedded best practice is within everyday life at Saxonwood:
“As a manager, I get to know my team well. I know what we’re planning, I know our residents, and it becomes easy to talk about the good work we do. They can see the confidence we have as a team, the personalised care we provide, and the extra mile we go for everyone.”
After receiving confirmation that she had passed the interview and achieved full CQC registration, Roxi proudly shared the news with residents and staff. The certificate is now displayed at the home, and they enjoyed celebrating the milestone.
Residents and the staff team were “delighted” to hear the news, recognising the achievement not just as a personal success for Roxi, but as a moment of pride for the whole Saxonwood community.
Reflecting on the accomplishment, Roxi said:
“It's a good feeling to have the CQC recognise not just me, but the whole team, and the important role everyone plays. We have a clear vision for Saxonwood and what we want to achieve. The team are progressing, taking on new roles, and developing their careers. It’s a positive challenge for me, and I lead by example.”
With Sandra becoming the new Deputy Care Home Manager, Saxonwood looks forward to an exciting new chapter under this leadership, with a shared commitment to high‑quality, personalised care and continuous improvement.
