‘Excellent’ score for our considerate constructors at Oakwood Court care home

A recent inspection by the ‘considerate constructors’ scheme of our extension being built at Oakwood Court care home in Haywards Heath has returned an ‘excellent’ score.

Niblock Building Contractors who are developing the new 27 bedroom extension for Sussex Housing & Care, signed up to the scheme to make sure they are respecting the community, caring for the environment and valuing the workforce on our site.

There are a number of initiatives Niblock have implemented to benefit the community including; regular coffee mornings and catch ups with local residents and staff, sharing materials for recycling, for example, residents have made plant pots from pallet wood. Niblock have added a dog waste holder and bags to the local footpath and they also ensure deliveries are escorted carefully through the site and the residential road.

Amanda Hodge, Director of Housing & Care said: “We’re delighted with the first considerate constructors inspection since we started building. It reflects Niblock’s commitment to being considerate of our neighbours and the environment. As the building work progresses we look forward to welcoming further inspections and continuing this success.”

The inspection by an experienced industry professional praised the considerable efforts Niblock are making. Myles Pitt, Project Manager, said: “We are proud to achieve this excellent score as it showcases our commitment to work with the local community. Being in such close proximity to a live care home and sheltered scheme it is paramount we engage and work with Sussex Housing & Care, to create a safe and comfortable environment for residents to live, while still achieving the desired end product. We aim to keep up this excellent standard and further our engagement where possible.”
