Job Description

We are looking for a Deputy Manager for our dementia friendly care home in Haywards Heath.  This is an exciting time to join our expanding team as we have recently extended Oakwood Court from a 33 to a 60 bed home, along with new and modern facilities. 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Care Home Manager in the day to day running of the home, deputising for the manager in their absence to ensure high standards are maintained within the home
  • Assisting the manager to ensure the home is sufficiently staffed at all times providing a consistent service to the residents and to be ‘on call’ at certain times,
  • Assisting the Care Home or Head of Care with assessing potential residents, ensuring the home maintains a high level of occupancy.
  • Assisting the Home Manager with identifying and addressing any resident, relative and staff issues
  • Ensuring the home meets its regulatory and legal requirements

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent is essential, with a willingness to undertake further training
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory position within a care setting
  • The ability to effectively lead and develop a high performing team
  • Experience of managing staff and helping them develop through learning, staff supervisions and appraisals
  • Understanding of the issues involved in caring for frailer older people
  • Sound understanding of the Fundamental Standards of Quality and Safety
  • Understanding of safeguarding
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills and is willing to learn new systems

Employment Details

  • Employment Type: Permanent
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, including some weekends
  • Pay: £35,924.75 Annually
